  Background: Nursing services have an important meaning for patients. Along with its development, society demands become more complex and critical in providing nursing services. The high workload of nurses can cause a decrease in the performance of nurses as providers of nursing care. Objective: To determine the relationship between workload and nurse performance in the inpatient ward at the Cirebon Muhammadiyah University General Hospital. Method: This research is a type of quantitative research. This research design is included in the correlational type, namely to determine the relationship between variables. The approach used is Cross Sectional, where the measurement of the independent variable regarding workload and the dependent variable regarding nurse performance is only carried out once at a time. The independent variable (workload) and dependent variable (performance) use a questionnaire by Nursalam (2017) as a research instrument. Results: Statistical results show that nurses in the inpatient ward (RPB, RPU and RPA) at General Hospital Muhammadiyah University of Cirebon have a heavy workload and adequate performance with a significance level of 0.019. Meanwhile, the correlation coefficient value between the two is positive 0.366. Conclusion: Based on the research results, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between workload and the performance of inpatient room maintenance at Muhammadiyah University Cirebon General Hospital. Suggestion: There needs to be an evaluation of workload and other possible factors so that the work tasks assigned to nurses can minimize unfinished work and so on.
