Abstract This study aims to measure the increase in Critical Thinking Skills of Class VIII Students of SMPN 2 Klangenan during the Problem Based Learning model learning process on the Human Respiratory System Material. This research method uses the Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design. The population in this study were all class VIII students, while the sample used 20 students using random sampling techniques. Data collection techniques in the form of test sheets to improve critical thinking skills and student response questionnaire sheets. Based on the results of data analysis and discussion, the following conclusions can be drawn: First, before being given learning with the Problem Based Learning model, the average critical thinking ability of students was 40.00. While after learning with the Problem Based Learning model, the average critical thinking ability of students increased to 82.25. This means that the application of the Problem Based Learning model can improve the Critical Thinking Ability of Class VIII Students on the Human Respiratory System Material by 71%. Second, the response of grade VIII students to the Problem Based Learning learning model on the Human Respiratory System is classified as students who are more enthusiastic 75%, express their opinions 75%, are interested in learning 75%, and are easy or difficult to understand learning 85%.
