ABSTRACT THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROBLEM BASED LEARNING (PBL) MODEL TO MATHEMATICS LEARNING INTEREST OF THIRD GRADE STUDENTS AT UPTD SD NEGERI 1 WERU LOR FENNY SEPTIYANI Email: fennyseptiyani25@gmail.com Abstract: This study was motivated by the low interest in learning mathematics among students, caused by the use of less innovative learning models, monotonous teaching methods, and limited use of instructional media. These factors led students to become less active, less interested, and less focused during lessons. Therefore, a creative and interactive learning strategy is needed to improve students’ interest in learning. The aim of this study was to improve learning interest through the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model, using Classroom Action Research (CAR) conducted in two cycles. The results showed an increase in interest in learning after applying the PBL model. In the pre-cycle, the percentage of learning outcomes was 40%, increasing to 65% in the first cycle, and reaching 85% in the second cycle. The PBL model created a more engaging and participatory learning environment through group discussions, visual media, and contextual problems. Teachers are expected to consistently apply this model, provide guidance to students who are less active, and offer gradual exercises based on students’ learning needs.
