The Effect of The Montessori Method Using Large Movable Alphabet Media in Improving Beginning Reading Skills of Grade 1 Students at State Elementary School 1 Pasuruan Vinah Lusianah1, Widia Nur Jannah2, Erna Labudasari3 widianurjannah87@gmail.com Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program Faculty, Muhammadiyah University of Cirebon, Cirebon, West Java Abstract This study aims to determine the effect of the Montessori method, using large movable alphabet media, on improving the early reading skills of first-grade students at State Elementary School 1 Pasuruan. This study employed a quantitative approach with a pre- experimental research design, using a One Group Pretest/Posttest design. This study involved 20 first-grade students at State Elementary School 1 Pasuruan. Student learning outcomes, with an average pretest score of 57.00, were significantly lower than the average posttest score of 79.00. Based on these results, it can be concluded that there is a significant effect on the early reading skills of first-grade students at State Elementary School 1 Pasuruan. The hypothesis test results showed a significance value of 0.000 <0.05, meaning the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, confirming a significant difference. In addition, the N-Gain test shows a value of 0.5860 which is included in the medium category or 58.6019% effective interpretation, indicating that the use of the Montessori method assisted by large movable alphabet media is effective in improving learning outcomes.
