AN ANALYSIS OF TEACHERS’ PEDAGOGIC COMPETENCE IN TEACHING ENGLISH ON DIGITAL LITERACY AT SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL IN CIREBON

This study aims to identify the pedagogical competencies of teachers from different school contexts in using digital literacy. To achieve this goal, the study used a qualitative design involving observation and interviews as data collection techniques. After conducting the research, the researchers concluded that improving digital literacy for teachers is very important. In both the private and public schools observed, all teachers were adequately equipped with digital literacy. Both English teachers applied digital literacy in all parts of pedagogical competence including to master students' characteristics, learn learning theories and principles, develop curriculum, implement lesson plans, but not to develop students' potential, communicate effectively with students, evaluate students' learning processes and outcomes. Both teachers met six of the seven indicators of teachers' pedagogical skills and it can be concluded that the advantages outweigh the challenges, meaning that teachers benefit from having digital literacy competencies because digital literacy has a significant positive impact on teachers' pedagogical competencies in this day and age. Technologically literate teachers can use technology to improve learning and education and have deeper and wider access to learning resources.
